Who I Am:
I'm Steve. I started DJing in 2000 after taking over some clients of a well respected DJ in my hometown. After 25 years, I'm going stronger than ever!
What I Am:
I'm what's known in the biz as a "Mobile DJ". That is to say I bring the party wherever my client wants. Be it a home with 20 people, or a school with over a thousand, I have what it takes to ensure everyone has a memorable time.
Why I Do It:
I genuinely love music. I always have a song playing in my head, and a rhythm pulsing through my body. The greatest feeling in the world to me is hearing the crowd go crazy because I put on exactly the right song at exactly the right time. I DJ part time, and own a business at the Oaks Mall, in Thousand Oaks. Both I've been doing for years. When I find something I love doing, I stick with it.
Where I've Done It:
I have hundreds of very satisfied clients. Most of my customers are private events - homes and facility rentals. I've also provided services for Los Cerritos, Sycamore Canyon, Santa Rosa Tech, Colina, Sequoia, & Redwood middle schools, as well as Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park & Santa Paula high schools. I'm probably most well known though for my past DJing at the Thousand Oaks Teen Center, where I'd regularly perform for hundreds of teens at a time.

Common Questions
Question: What happens if the schedule runs late or things don’t go as planned?
Answer: After 25+ years of DJing weddings and corporate events, I can confidently say that timelines almost always shift. You won’t have to stress about it. I have the experience to pivot seamlessly, adjust the music on the fly, and coordinate quietly with your caterer and photographer to keep the night flowing naturally without you ever having to worry.
Question: We are hosting a school function (or family wedding). Can you guarantee the music will be appropriate?
Answer: Absolutely. Nothing kills the vibe faster than an inappropriate song playing in front of administrators or family members. For school dances and family-friendly events across Ventura County, I use a meticulously curated library of strictly clean, radio-edited tracks. You get all the high energy without any of the stress.
Question: Will your equipment look messy and ruin the aesthetic of our venue?
Answer: Not at all. A lot of standard DJ setups feature tangled cables and bulky speakers that clash with beautiful venues. I specialize in high-end, modern setups featuring custom visuals and clean dancefloor lighting. My equipment is designed to enhance your venue's aesthetic, not detract from it.
Question: Are you going to be on the microphone making cheesy jokes all night?
Answer: No. Your event is about you and your guests, not the DJ's ego. My MC style is polished, professional, and refined. I make all the necessary announcements with clear, energetic professionalism to keep your timeline on track, but I let the music do the talking when the dancefloor opens.
Question: Can we give you a strict 'Do Not Play' list?
Answer: Yes! A 'Do Not Play' list is just as important as your request list. Whether you absolutely hate the 'Chicken Dance' like me, or just want to avoid a specific artist, I will strictly honor your boundaries so you never have a cringeworthy moment on your dancefloor.
Question: How early do you arrive, and will you be setting up while guests are there?
Answer: I require a strict early-arrival policy - typically between 1 1/2-2 hours. My custom visual displays and sound system are fully tested, and sound-checked long before your first guest walks through the door.
Question: If we book SLiK Entertainment, who will actually show up to DJ?
Answer: When you book SLiK Entertainment, you get me — Steve Kraetsch. Some larger DJ companies act as booking agencies and send out rookies with a playlist. When you hire me, you are directly hiring my 25+ years of live event expertise, ensuring your night is handled by a seasoned professional from the first consultation to the last dance.
